Volunteer Form

Your participation is mandatory for your child to participate in this program. It takes an enormous effort on the part of our families to bring our plays to the stage each year. No special skills are required for most jobs and many jobs may be done at home. The Committee Chairs will provide materials, training, and guidance wherever necessary. You should plan to devote a minimum of 20 hours of work on the production over the ten-week period. If you have more than one child in any given show, you will be required to do multiple jobs. Although we cannot guarantee your specific placement on the production staff, the producers will do their best to accommodate you. Either the Producers or Committee Heads will notify you of your assignment soon after the production gets underway. We think you will find that both you and your children will value and enjoy your commitment.

SET CONSTRUCTION:

Parents are responsible for set construction/assembly and painting under the direction of the Set Designer and/or Builder. Committee may also be called on to help with early build items, set meetings, and will need to be present during set-build Saturday and may need to provide supplemental support backstage on performance nights. Must be available set build Saturday (two weeks before the performance weekend) and set strike immediately after the last show.

COSTUMES:

Sewing Experience is desired, but not required. All types of help needed: machine sewing, hand sewing, glue gunning, cutting, and costume gathering. Materials and instruction are provided. Must work during dress rehearsal week and at least one (possible two) performances. Must attend Costume strike immediately after the last show.

PROPS:

Parents needed to gather and, at times, make props. Required to work during Dress Week and during some performances.

MAKEUP & HAIR:

Parents needed to apply make-up and do hair during dress week (starting at 3:30pm) & performances (generally 2 hours before the shows start time). Training will be given. Parents will also be responsible for attending a portion of Set Build Saturday to help with painting (date is usually two weeks before the performance weekend).

TICKET SALES, PUBLICITY, & PROGRAM:

Parents need to manage the creation of the program. Staff ticket sales for advance sales and at the door on performance days. Poster /Flyer distributions around Wilton and surrounding towns. Need to also arrange for sandwich board creation and placement in key areas around town. Publicity committee is responsible for writing the press release, contacting local newspapers so the story runs in the week leading up to Opening Night and will be responsible for coordinating/implementing live events . In addition, You may need to work Intermission Sales at one of the performances

INTERMISSION SALES & HOSPITALITY:

Intermission Sales is the committee in charge of assembling, and selling Bravo Bags, candy, water, flowers, and merchandise before and during each of the three performances. This is also the committee that provides water and pretzels to the cast during Intermission and are responsible for organizing the ordering of/provide food and beverages for the technical rehearsals of Dress Week, as well as order a cake for the cast party. You will need to work two performances.

PHOTOGRAPHER/LOBBY DISPLAY & SHIRTS:

Parent(s) needed to take headshots and candid photos during rehearsals, a cast photo during dress week, and to arrange them in a display in the lobby/hallway at Middlebrook the afternoon of opening night. Lobby display clean-up immediately after the last performance. Distribute shirts to castmates.

DISMISSAL:

Parent to be in charge of releasing students to parents at pick-up time in the parking lot. They are required to attend one day per week (same day each week) from 6:15 until all children are picked up. Typically this is a second job for parents with two children in show.
